Overview:
This course is designed for clinicians seeking to deepen their understanding of how trauma, particularly generational and racial trauma, impacts attachment and emotional security. Using a biosocial framework, the course highlights the importance of recognizing and addressing these issues in clinical practice.
In this presentation, Dr. Eboni Webb will address the unique challenges posed by trauma, especially as they relate to attachment and security. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for effective therapeutic interventions. Clinicians will gain insights into the holistic impact of trauma, including its effects on identity and relational health. Moreover, the course provides practical strategies for helping clients recover from racial trauma, emphasizing the importance of validation and restorative healing. This knowledge equips clinicians to better support their clients’ journey toward emotional well-being and resilience.
Objectives:
- Discuss how trauma, viewed through the lens of the biosocial model, shapes emotional and relational development.
- Identify two key features of healthy attachment to inform therapeutic approaches.
- Explain one way trauma affects both mental and physical health.
- Examine the effects of inadequate validation on early racial development and its implications for identity formation.
