COURSE OVERVIEW

Are you interested in sharing your knowledge with behavioral health clinicians? Are you already a clinical supervisor and need to enhance your knowledge and skills? This course will explore best practices in clinical supervision. We will explore the current models of clinical supervision and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each.

A review of the ethics of clinical supervision will reveal the major ethical issues supervisors may face. Defining and examining the roles and responsibilities of both the supervisor and supervisee will assist in supporting the supervisee’s learning needs.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Develop best practices for providing clinical supervision, including supervisory contract and documentation procedures.
Differentiate different models of supervision.
Analyze the major ethical issues and risks involved in being a clinical supervisor.
Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of the supervisor and supervisee.

Target Audience: Licensed Professional Counselors, Social Workers, Addiction Counselors, & LMFT

Content Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Ellen Biros

Ellen Biros earned a Master’s in Justice from the American University in Washington, DC. and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Georgia. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been practicing social work for over 20 years. Currently, she has a private practice where she specializes in the treatment and assessment of individuals with personality disorders, substance abuse issues, and emotional regulation problems. She also provides clinical supervision for social workers seeking their clinical licensure.
Ellen is an adjunct faculty member at The University of Phoenix in the College of Social Services and the College of Natural Sciences and at Tulane University in the School of Social Work. She has been a national continuing education speaker and has authored continuing education seminars including “Emotional Manipulators and Codependents: A Recipe for Disaster," “Unmasking Manipulative Relationships: Effective Strategies for Countering Covert Abuse," "Personality Disorders: The Challenges of the Hidden Agenda," and "Antisocial, Borderline, Narcissistic and Histrionic: Effective Treatment for Cluster B Personality Disorders."
Ellen has been married for 21 years and has two daughters.
