COURSE OVERVIEW
This interactive webinar will focus on “how the most wonderful time of the year” for some of us can also be the “most difficult time of the year if someone is struggling with an eating disorder. Eating disorders at any time of the year can be complex to treat since eating disorders still hold the highest rate of mortality than any other mental illness; However, the holiday season is one of the most triggering times of the year for anyone that is battling an eating disorder.
This webinar will provide in-depth information to work with patients before, during, and beyond the holiday season to reduce eating disorder thoughts, behaviors, and even the likelihood of relapse in patients’ recovery.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Identify the connections between the holidays and eating disorders and some of the barriers the holidays can have on treatment outcomes.
- Identify the most common issues that generate for those struggling with an eating disorder face at the holiday season and how to address and conquer them.
- Discuss the timeframes to begin planning for the holiday season- because there is time to prepare for what is inevitable.
- Discuss treatment options to focus on and tools to help patients get through the holidays with less eating disorder thoughts and behaviors becoming too overwhelming.

Ms. Jennifer Roofner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC). She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she completed honors work in eating disorder research. She completed her Master’s of Social Work degree and graduate certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Following her completion of Graduate School, she worked in various treatment centers before opening her own private practice in 2017. She has also completed certification beyond her licensure to specialize in both intuitive eating counseling and eating disorder treatment. Ms. Roofner also provides telehealth services and is licensed in 11 states to ensure access to care is in place for those in need, even in the most rural of areas.
