COURSE OVERVIEW
Stimulant Use Disorders can present challenges that differ from other substance use disorders. Join us in the informative training to build insight on recent trends of stimulant use in The United States, including collaborative discussion on amphetamines, methamphetamine, and crack/cocaine.
This training will provide a psych-ed surrounding what research suggests surrounding stimulants’ effects on one’s brain and behavior, as well as medical aspects of stimulant use disorders.
This training also discusses approaches to the treatment of stimulant use disorder, namely as it relates to client retention, treatment efficacy, and treatment engagement.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Discuss the recent trends associated with stimulant use disorders.
- Explain how stimulants affect the brain and behavior, as well as stimulants’ mechanisms of action.
- Discuss treatment considerations for special populations (such as racial/ethnic minority populations, adolescents, individuals with co-occurring mental disorders, etc).
