LaTonya Thorpe, MDIV, DMIN, LCAS, CSI, LCAS, North Carolina Problem Gambling Addiction Provider, Facilitator, Webinar trainer, and Ordained Minister. LaTonya Thorpe has more than thirty years of combined experience in the areas of law enforcement, mental health, and substance abuse. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice at Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina; and both Master of Divinity degree, and a Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, North Carolina. Currently, LaTonya is the owner and founder of Above And Not Beneath Counseling Services, LLC (AANB), a multi-faceted, specialized and intensive service agency that provides counseling, comprehensive training services, resources and referrals in the areas of life development, mental health, anger management, crisis intervention, domestic violence, and evidence-based practices. Prior to establishing Above And Not Beneath; LaTonya's employment history includes ten years as a Probation/Parole Officer carrying specialized caseloads of offenders with domestic violence and gang-related convictions. Additionally, for six years, she provided therapeutic, individual and group therapy to psychiatric, chemically dependent or dually-diagnosed patients at the Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, North Carolina.
