12:30 PM ET – 3:45 PM ET
Overview:
Bridging the gap between bystanders and active participants is a key component of increasing engagement and fostering positive change in group therapy settings. Especially for patients with attention deficits, long-winded, lecture-style sessions are not as effective at promoting engagement, reflection, and retention.
In this presentation, Dr. Patterson will unveil several approaches to increasing group participant engagement, including icebreakers, group activities, and other immersive experiences that will have everyone chiming in. By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the tools you need to ensure nobody is left out during group sessions.
Objectives:
- Discuss the importance of fostering creativity when providing client care.
- List and assess engagement-boosting activities that can be used in group settings.
- Identify methods for creating and applying your own activities to increase group engagement.
