April 25th, Friday
12:00 PM ET – 3:15 PM ET
Overview:
Featuring revised diagnostic criteria, new ICD-10 codes, and an increased emphasis on contextualizing disorders within each patient’s racial identity, the DSM-5-TR represents several key shifts in standard clinical approaches.Â
Included in these changes are the introduction of Prolonged Grief Disorder as an official diagnosis, as well as Suicidal Behavior and Non-Suicidal Self-Injury, both of which now have ICD-10 codes.Â
The DSM-5-TR also introduces new neurocognitive, mood, and depressive disorders, while providing diagnostic revisions for dozens of previously established disorders.
This workshop will identify and expand upon the full range of changes made in this most recent revision to the DSM, combining theory with actionable insights to enable working clinicians to adopt all changes effectively.Â
Objectives:
- Identify the differences and similarities between DSM and ICD codes and classifications.
- List at least five diagnostic additions or revisions in the DSM-5-TR.
- Describe the motivation behind inclusion of Prolonged Grief Disorder in the DSM-5-TR.
- Describe the role of culture, diversity, and discrimination in the latest revisions.
- Discuss the distinction between grief and depression.
- Discuss the motivation behind the reclassification of gender identity disorder as gender dysphoria.
Limitations:
This webinar provides an overview of key changes in the DSM-5-TR. Due to time constraints, it does not cover all specialty areas in depth. Professionals seeking detailed guidance in specific clinical domains may benefit from additional, topic-focused training.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
