Overview
Proper clinical assessment is key to ensuring that clients experiencing mental health disparities are aware of their symptoms, understand the treatment options available to them, and have opportunities to engage in mental health therapy. While there are several ways to properly assess, many clinicians may be unaware as to where to start.
Join Corey in this informative webinar to learn more about comprehensive clinical assessments (CCA). Comprehensive clinical assessment is integral to thoroughly investigating what brings clients to therapy, helping to develop clarity, and supporting effective treatment planning and counseling interventions.
Objectives
- Gain insight and awareness into the history of comprehensive clinical assessment (CCA), discuss its origins and the components of mental status exams from clinical perspectives, and work through actionable steps for conducting mental status examinations (MSE).
- Discuss the appropriate functions of comprehensive clinical assessment and review or introduce key objective and subjective features. Build insight and awareness of cultural competence in psychiatric evaluation.
- Case examples to challenge participants to consider appropriate assessment protocols and interventions.
- Clinical interviewing strategies that highlight differences between structured, semi-structured, and unstructured interview processes.
- Inquiry regarding theoretical orientations as they relate to assessment practices.
