12:30 PM ET – 3:45 PM ET
Overview:
Mindfulness, for some clients, still evokes something Eastern or “new-age.” This workshop places mindfulness firmly in the context of Western psychology, broadening our understanding of mindfulness as a form of neuroplasticity-enabled metacognition.
The workshop will also examine how mindlessness maintains cycles of habitual living, and provide a deeper dive into several clinical applications of mindfulness-based work. Participants will explore protocols and strategies for addressing disordered eating, emotional dysregulation, and cyclic thought patterns in clinical practice.
Objectives:
- Analyze the intersections of mindfulness, metacognition and neuroplasticity.
- Survey several classic and original mindfulness protocols.
- Explain the applications of mindfulness in the context of disordered eating, emotional dysregulation, and cyclic thought patterns.
