Overview:
This presentation will introduce participants to The Diamond Approach (Connie & Froerer, 2022) of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. The presenter will guide participants through each essential component of conducting a session using this approach:
- Establishing a desired outcome/transformation
- Developing a co-constructed description of the desired transformation, incorporating details from the client’s history, resources, and preferred future
- Closing sessions in ways that are meaningful and honor the client’s autonomy and agency
Participants will watch recordings of actual therapy sessions and engage in in-depth discussions about the practical application of this approach. You will come to understand the transformative value of seeing people as the best versions of themselves and will leave better equipped to treat them accordingly.
Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, the attendees will be able to:
- Use the Solution-Focused Approach more confidently in their sessions.
- Identify the differences between the Solution-Focused Approach and other forms of therapy.
- Articulate each of the components of the Diamond Approach to SFBT.
