The Traumatized Nervous System Masterclass: Somatic Interventions for Freeze, Dissociation & Trauma Recovery (RV)

Overview:

This 6-hour intensive training equips mental health professionals with somatic interventions to help trauma clients who shut down, dissociate, or get stuck in freeze responses during therapy. Discover how trauma specialists recognize when the nervous system has left the window of tolerance, interrupt dissociative responses before retraumatization occurs, and guide clients back into their bodies safely.

Learn practical somatic resourcing techniques that go beyond talk therapy, including breathwork, movement, safe self-touch, and power poses that help clients ground, regulate, and contain overwhelming experience. Gain the clinical decision-making framework for understanding hyperarousal and hypoarousal states, and why reenacting the freeze response in session prevents trauma from being processed.

Designed for licensed mental health professionals seeking to elevate their clinical effectiveness with trauma survivors through immediately applicable, body-based interventions that interrupt dissociation and create safety for deeper trauma processing.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the functions of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems in trauma response.
  2. Explain the window of tolerance and identify manifestations of hyperarousal and hypoarousal in clients.
  3. Recognize why reenactment of the freeze response in therapy interferes with trauma processing and risks retraumatization
  4. Implement strategies to interrupt and short-circuit dissociative responses during sessions.
  5. Define somatic resourcing and explain why it may initially present challenges for clients.
  6. Apply at least six somatic resourcing techniques — including breathwork, movement, self-touch, and power poses — to enhance grounding, comfort, and containment.
  7.
