Overview:
Have you heard of ACT but are not quite sure what it is or how to use it with clients? Are you searching for diverse and effective treatment interventions to add to your clinical toolbox? This training will introduce the learners to the fundamentals and principles of ACT.
The powerful and unique interventions of ACT will be explored, and discussion of how learners can implement these interventions with their clients will occur. This presentation will increase learners’ knowledge, skills, and appreciation for this effective modality.
Learn about psychological flexibility, externalization, and the powerful use of values. Discover the value of therapeutic metaphors, and empower your clients to have a healthier relationship with their thoughts and feelings.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate knowledge ACT’s basic principles and psychological flexibility.
- Experiment with at least two ACT interventions in clinical practice.
- Reflect on the methods and rationale for incorporating ACT interventions into work with clients.
Scope and Limitations Disclosure
This course provides licensed mental health professionals with an introduction to the principles and interventions of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The presentation focuses on core concepts such as psychological flexibility, values-based work, and the use of therapeutic metaphors, with guidance on applying ACT techniques in diverse clinical settings. While key interventions and theoretical foundations are discussed, this course is not a substitute for formal ACT certification or advanced training. Participants are encouraged to use clinical judgment and integrate course content within their professional scope and ethical standards.
