12:00 PM ET – 4:15 PM ET
Overview:
Brainspotting is an emerging treatment method that uses relevant eye positions to identify, process and release core neurophysiological sources of emotional or somatic pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging conditions. Despite being highly technical, Brainspotting is a foundationally relational model. This keynote presents Brainspotting as a psychotherapy that views the human experience and human suffering from a global, developmental and neurological point of view.
This workshop addresses:
- How Brainspotting works and how it differs from other trauma processing therapies
- How to utilize and integrate Brainspotting into ongoing treatment, including highly dissociative clients.
- Live demonstration of how Brainspotting works in clinical practice
Objectives:
- Explain how eye positions have relevance in potentially accessing and healing unprocessed trauma in the brain.
- Discuss how the 1 – 4 quadrillion synaptic connections in the human nervous system leave the therapist in a perpetual state of uncertainty.
- Describe how the client brings to the session a frame of their experiences that the therapist recognizes, receives and holds with the client.
- Explain how the mutually held frame produces focused mindfulness processing that supports the innate human capacity for self-healing.
- Reflect on how developmental trauma yielding symptomatic manifestations is inaccurately labeled as disordered.

All content should be integrated in accordance with state licensure laws, ethical guidelines, and agency policies. This course is not a substitute for individualized supervision or medical, psychiatric, or neurological evaluation.
