Overview:
Anxiety disorders are among the most prevalent mental health conditions and can be resistant to treatment without targeted interventions. This interactive three-hour workshop equips licensed clinicians and mental health professionals with evidence-based strategies for effectively treating generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and health anxiety.
Grounded in cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches, the program integrates conceptual frameworks with real-world clinical application. In this presentation, Dr. Ashley Smith will help participants learn to identify diagnostic features and maintaining factors of anxiety, recognize the role of avoidance and maladaptive worry, and implement structured interventions to reduce symptoms and strengthen resilience. Through case examples, practical tools, and a streamlined CBT-based model, attendees will gain strategies to design individualized treatment plans that incorporate relapse prevention and support clients in reclaiming daily functioning and well-being.
Objectives:
- Explain the CBT model of anxiety and identify diagnostic features and maintaining factors of generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and health anxiety.
- Apply evidence-based cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based interventions to reduce symptoms and improve resilience.
- Differentiate between productive and unproductive worry and design individualized treatment plans that incorporate relapse prevention.
