Wednesday, October 30th
12:30 PM EST – 3:45 PM EST
Overview:
Financial well-being and mental health share a bidirectional connection. When one is up, the other trends upward, and vice versa. In economic downturns especially, widespread financial stress promotes anxiety, depression, substance abuse, PTSD, and even suicide.
In this course, led by renowned financial therapist Joyce Marter, you will learn how to identify and address the cultural, cognitive, and experiential (e.g., past trauma) factors that contribute to each patient’s relationship with money. This includes assessing the impact of intergenerational financial trauma and abuse on each patient’s unique perception of financial well-being.Â
Using a combination of narrative therapy, mindfulness practices, and other evidence-supported methods, you will learn how to restore healthier attitudes towards money for yourself & your clients with the help of realistic exercises and assessment tools.Â
Objectives:
- Explore the connection between financial and mental well-being
- Empower therapists to identify the cultural, experiential, and cognitive factors that contribute to each patient’s unique perception of financial well-being
- Introduce key methodologies for addressing financial anxiety, depression, and other issues.
- Equip attendees with a tool kit for practically integrating these solutions.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
