Overview:
As telebehavioral health services expand across the U.S. and globally, clinicians must understand the legal and ethical parameters that govern cross-jurisdictional practice. This 3-hour training offers a practical and up-to-date guide to navigating licensure laws, regulations, and practice requirements when providing telebehavioral health services across state lines and international borders.
Led by national telehealth expert Jay Ostrowski, this course outlines key considerations for legally and ethically expanding your telehealth practice. Participants will learn how to assess licensure requirements, develop compliant workflows, and understand the legal frameworks that affect service delivery across jurisdictions. Emerging issues in international telehealth, legal exceptions, and interstate compacts will also be covered.
By the end of the course, participants will have greater clarity and confidence in how to operate a compliant and effective telebehavioral health practice in multiple regions.
Objectives:
Identify legal and regulatory conditions under which clinicians may deliver telebehavioral health services across state lines.
Evaluate clinical, legal, and ethical factors to consider before delivering services across jurisdictions.
Differentiate between U.S. interstate and international telehealth regulations and apply relevant guidance to practice.
This recorded webinar is delivered through lecture, real-world regulatory examples, and workflow guidance. Participants explore cross-jurisdictional compliance, risk analysis, and practical tools for legally delivering telebehavioral health services across U.S. and international borders.
Limitations:
Telehealth laws and licensure regulations are evolving rapidly, and guidance may vary by state, country, or discipline. While this training presents current best practices, clinicians are advised to confirm with regulatory boards and stay informed about changing statutes, compact laws, and emerging interpretations.
