Overview
Proper clinical assessing is key to ensuring that clients experiencing mental health disparities have awareness surrounding their symptoms, understanding of treatment options available to them, as well as opportunities to engage in mental health therapy. While there are several ways to properly assess, many clinicians may be unaware as to where to start.Â
Join Corey in this informative class to learn more about comprehensive clinical assessments (CCA). Comprehensive clinical assessment is integral in ensuring we’re investigative surrounding what brings clients to therapy, how assessment can best help develop clarity, while also traversing into treatment planning and counseling intervention.
Objectives
- Gain insight and awareness surrounding the history of comprehensive clinical assessment (CCA), discussing its origins, components of mental status exams based on clinical perspectives, while also working through actionable steps of mental status examinations (MSE).
- Discussion of appropriate functions of comprehensive clinical assessment and review/introduction to key objective/subjective features. Building insight and awareness surrounding cultural competence in psychiatric evaluation.
- Case examples that challenge the class to consider appropriate assessment protocol and interventions.
- Clinical interviewing strategies that highlight differences between structured, semi- structured, and non-structured interview processes.
- Inquiry regarding theoretical orientations as it relates to assessment practices.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
