Overview:
Although medical marijuana is legal in 42 states… widespread confusion exists about what cannabinoids can and can’t do, since most professionals do not receive formal education about marijuana. And as the presence of marijuana/cannabis continues to grow, our clients are hearing messages with claims about how marijuana can help control or improve a number of different physical & mental health conditions.Â
This interactive training will update you as a Mental Health Professional about the therapeutic benefits, risks, and limits of cannabis & cannabinoid products. Attendees will then be able to use this knowledge to provide evidence-based recommendations to their clients who have questions about medical marijuana. So, they can have full clarification & confidence in this subject, which will help their clients in much better ways as well as the political and economic factors that influence the medical marijuana market.
Objectives:
- Discuss the current science behind the therapeutic value of cannabinoids.
- Discuss the current science related to risks of cannabinoid use, particularly at high concentrations.
- Explain the experience of medical marijuana patients in dispensaries, related to recommendations and product marketing.
- Explain the impact of the marijuana industry on state and federal policy change, and implications related to recreational use and commercial markets.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
