Overview:
Approximately 20% of students ages 12-18 are impacted by bullying nationwide. Unfortunately, the solution is not simple. Talking about bullying is a powerful first step in understanding the complexity of this issue. Understanding Bullying is a course designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of bullying, its impact on individuals, and effective strategies for prevention and intervention. The course will explore the various forms of bullying, including physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying, and examine the underlying causes and dynamics of bullying behavior. Participants will learn how to recognize the signs of bullying, understand the psychological and emotional effects on victims, bystanders, and perpetrators, and develop strategies for creating a safe and inclusive environment in their personal and professional lives.
Participants will benefit from taking this course by gaining a deeper understanding of the complexities of bullying behavior, its impact on individuals, and strategies for prevention and intervention. They will acquire practical skills and knowledge to create a positive and inclusive environment in their personal and professional lives, leading to improved mental health and well-being for themselves and others. In addition, participants will be better equipped to recognize and address bullying situations effectively, contributing to a safer and more compassionate community for all.

- Define bullying and identify the various forms of bullying.
- Review research on bullying’s prevalence, risk factors, and impact on youth.
- Describe best practices in bullying prevention and response.
- Discuss the problems and steps for repair and reparation.
