Dr. LaTonya Thorpe, MDIV, LCAS, CSS, is a distinguished North Carolina Problem Gambling Addiction Provider, Facilitator, trainer, and Ordained Minister, with over thirty years of experience in the fields of law enforcement, mental health, and substance abuse. Dr. Thorpe is a lifelong learner with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, North Carolina. Dr. Thorpe is the owner and founder of Above And Not Beneath Counseling Services, LLC (AANB), a leading agency that specializes in providing counseling, comprehensive training services, resources, and referrals in the areas of life development, mental health, anger management, crisis intervention, domestic violence, and evidence-based practices. She brings a wealth of experience to her current position, including ten years as a Probation/Parole Officer carrying specialized caseloads of offenders with domestic violence and gang-related convictions. Dr. Thorpe has been recognized as a subject matter expert and consultant in various fields. She has served as a subject matter expert and trainer for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and has been a presenter for various organizations, including the North Carolina State Conference of the NAACP, the National Conference of the American Counseling Association, and the National Association of Black Social Workers. With her extensive experience and knowledge, Dr. Thorpe continues to make significant contributions to the fields of mental health, substance abuse, and law enforcement.
