Overview:
This course provides mental health professionals with an evidence-based, integrative framework for applying lifestyle and mind–body interventions in the treatment of PTSD and complex trauma. Emphasizing a stage-based model of recovery, the training addresses how targeted self-care practices can mitigate both the psychological and physiological consequences of trauma, including depression, anxiety, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, substance use, and self-harm.
In this presentation, Dr. Leslie Korn will help participants examine clinical strategies that support client engagement in sustainable self-care behaviors and promote long-term stabilization, resilience, and functional improvement. The course highlights the role of nutrition, somatic practices, and integrative medicine as complementary approaches within trauma-informed care.
Objectives:
- Describe an integrative, mind–body approach to the treatment of PTSD and complex trauma
- Identify the psychological components of trauma that can be addressed through nutrition and integrative medicine.
- Explain the biological and physiological components of trauma that respond to nutrition and integrative medicine.
