Overview:
Discover how Relational Cultural Theory (RCT) can deepen your therapeutic practice by addressing the critical role of relationships in healing and well-being. Chronic disconnection is a major source of human suffering, and RCT offers a framework for fostering meaningful, growth-oriented connections that support client healing.
In this self-paced recorded webinar, Dr. Janelle Cox, LCPC, ACS, NCC, will guide you through the core principles of RCT, helping you integrate its relational, client-centered approach into your work. You’ll explore how mutual empathy and connection create the foundation for lasting change and learn actionable techniques to enhance client relationships, improve treatment planning, and consider multicultural influences on well-being.

- Apply RCT in practice – Learn how to analyze and address client challenges using this relational framework.
- Clarify the therapeutic relationship – Define the roles of both client and counselor in the healing process.

- Navigate the counseling process – Structure therapy sessions using an RCT approach.
- Consider multicultural impacts – Examine how sociocultural factors shape client experiences.
About Online Relational Cultural Theory CE Courses
RCT was founded by Jean Baker Miller on the idea that growth-fostering relationships are essential to well-being. At Wellesley College, she established a training institute where scholars like Judith Jordan expanded RCT, integrating feminist psychology, social justice, and multicultural perspectives.
In clinical practice, RCT challenges traditional, individualistic approaches to therapy by emphasizing that healing occurs through relationships, not in isolation. Rooted in feminist theory, it highlights the impact of social and cultural contexts on well-being and recognizes chronic disconnection as a key source of emotional distress.
At the heart of RCT is the belief that growth occurs through authentic, mutually empathetic relationships. By integrating RCT into your clinical work, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of how relational dynamics influence client struggles—and how to use connection as a powerful tool for healing.
In this webinar, you’ll:
- Examine how RCT shifts the traditional counseling paradigm.
- Gain insight into the counselor-client dynamic and how to foster mutual growth.
- Explore effective interventions that strengthen connection and reduce isolation.
- Learn how to apply RCT principles to treatment planning and clinical decision-making.
By incorporating RCT into your approach, you’ll be better equipped to create a more inclusive, client-centered practice—one that acknowledges the profound impact of relationships on mental health and overall well-being.
