Overview:
The Inner Child Model™ for treating addictive disorders is a trauma model that assists clients in understanding “why” addictive behaviors such as smoking, gaming, sex, food, gambling, Internet usage, social media usage, plastic surgery, exercising, and work, have a stronghold on their lives.
And the reason can be found in the Inner Child, which serves as a source of unresolved childhood pain points that still haunt them today.
In this presentation, Dr. Eddie Capparucci will discuss how the Inner Child influences and sustains addictive behaviors, whether it’s smoking, gaming, or other compulsive activities. He will help you explore how the Inner Child’s unresolved pain points contribute to the development of addictive behaviors, particularly in coping with emotional discomfort. You’ll be introduced to the 12 Inner Children that symbolize the most common unresolved childhood pain points, unveiling and discovering how the Inner Child Model™ empowers clients to anticipate and manage their Inner Child.
As the session concludes, you’ll be equipped with a treatment plan, offering mental health professionals actionable strategies to assist clients in effectively managing and overcoming addictive behaviors.

- Discuss how past unresolved childhood pain points and the inability to process emotional discomfort influence the development of addictive behaviors.
- Describe the six steps of the Inner Child Model.
- Explain the impact of anxiety on addictive behaviors and how to manage it effectively.
Formulate individualized treatment plans for clients struggling with addictive disorders, integrating insights from the Inner Child Model™.
