Deborah Coolhart, Ph. D, LMFT

Deb Coolhart, PhD, LMFT, has specialized in providing gender affirmative therapy for trans youth and their families for 25 years.  She is an Associate Professor of Mariage and Family Therapy at Syracuse University, where she founded the Transgender Affirmative Support Team 20 years ago.  This team provides gender affirming therapy and engages in local activism to support the trans and nonbinary community.

Deb is coauthor of The Gender Quest Workbook: A Guide for Teens and Young Adults Exploring Gender Identity and she has authored many journal articles and book chapters focusing on supporting trans youth and helping parents grow in their understanding and support for their trans children.  Her forthcoming coauthored book guides trans and nonbinary youth in building resilience through strengthening community, mental health, and well-being.
