Dr. Angela Wood

Dr. Angela “Angie” Wood is a highly accomplished social worker with an impressive educational background. She earned her MSW from Southern Illinois University in 1992 and later completed her Ph.D. in social work at Tulane University in 2006. As a licensed clinical social worker for over 25 years, Dr. Wood has gained extensive experience in various behavioral health settings, including addictions, mental health, criminal/juvenile justice, and family preservation.

With her passion for education and training, Dr. Wood has been a workshop trainer and educator for more than 15 years. Her expertise lies in presenting on topics such as clinical supervision, motivational interviewing, and substance abuse. Her research focuses on the dissemination and implementation of motivational interviewing in different practice settings.

Currently serving as an assistant professor with the undergraduate social work program at Southeastern Louisiana University and a contributing faculty member for Walden University’s School of Social Work and Human Service, Dr. Wood actively contributes to the development of future social work professionals.

Dr. Wood holds a distinguished position as one of three members of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers based in Louisiana. With her vast experience, she has conducted over 100 workshops dedicated to motivational interviewing, positively impacting countless professionals in the field.
