Overview:
Intense trauma, “too much, too soon, too fast,”or developmental trauma which is repetitive and longstanding, underlies most anxiety, depression, and other issues we deal with as psychotherapists.
Having a whole-person approach to healing is vital for lasting change in our clients. Science has shown us that the body and mind carry our experiences for us, and it is crucial we know how to access them both in our healing journey. Activating the Higher Mind or what Dr. Carl Jung called “The Capital S Self” to help heal the fight/flight/ freeze/fawn of trauma is another crucial component in whole person healing.
In this presentation, Dr. Shannon South, LCMHC will share with you a whole-person approach to healing trauma by using all of these aspects Body, Mind, and Spirit. Helping clients get beyond their story and into more joy, peace, love, and safety is what it is all about!
Objectives:
- Describe how trauma may be transformed through engagement of the body, mind, and spirit.
- Identify key components of the subconscious, conscious, and superconscious or higher mind.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.

Shannon South
After a life-changing healing experience during a mindfulness practice that healed her panic disorder and PTSD naturally, Dr. Shannon South went on to train with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the creator of MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), Dr. Ron Seigal of Harvard, Dr. Deepak Chopras’ programs and many other mindfulness modalities. She realized there was more going on than traditional therapy and received her doctorate in spiritual psychology. As a therapist for over 20 years, she is an expert at helping others embody more abundance, joy and heal trauma naturally. She is the Founder of The Inner Counselor Certification Program (C-ICP) where she trains counselors, clinicians and healing professionals internationally on how to embody their higher Self and help their clients do the same using mindfulness and a powerful trauma-informed process called The Inner Counselor Process™.
