Overview:
Three factors play a critical part in an individual’s inability to break free of addictive behaviors.
- Unresolved childhood pain points
- Undeveloped emotional IQ
- Inability to sit with emotional discomfort
Unfortunately, these elements are often overlooked during the recovery process or not given the emphasis required. The Inner Child Model for treating addictive behaviors brings to the forefront of recovery an individual & trauma, neglect, and lack of emotional development.
The treatment model focuses on helping those struggling with addiction to empower themselves by recognizing the influence unresolved childhood trauma and neglect has on triggering addictive behaviors. By understanding how past events influence their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors today, these individuals can develop effective strategies to help them stay one step ahead of their addiction.
Objectives:
- Define the components of the Inner Child Model (ICM) and how to apply them in addiction treatment.
- Explain How the Inner Child Impacts Addiction.
- Differentiate Between the Nine Different Inner Child Types and Understand the Key Issues Each Deal with Due to Past Trauma And Neglect.
- Discuss the Six Core Steps Necessary for Successful Implementation of the ICM.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
