Wednesday, July 9th
12:30 PM EST – 3:45 PM EST
Overview:
As one of the most well-evidenced, adaptable, and effective clinical approaches for a very broad range of DSM-listed conditions, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the most powerful tools available to practicing therapists.
As we will elucidate in this course, it is not only the ability of CBT to identify and resolve maladaptive beliefs and thought patterns that makes it so effective, but its ability to treat a wide variety of medical, psychological, and challenging conditions (e.g., schizophrenia and substance abuse) with an individualized approach. This was the utilization envisioned by CBT founder Aaron T. Beck, who emphasized case conceptualization as a must-have foundation for successful CBT.
In this course, participants will master both the CBT model itself as well as the process of case conceptualization to enable accurate, effective, and culturally sensitive application.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain and accurately apply the cognitive mode
- Apply case conceptualization to individually tailor the cognitive model to each client
- Identify and assess situation-specific thoughts, assumptions, and negative beliefs.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
