Overview:
The ASAM Criteria Fourth Edition’s new changes for adults are here. The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria promotes individualized and holistic treatment planning and guides clinicians and care managers in making objective decisions about patient admission, continuing care, and movement along the continuum of care. This online ASAM Criteria CE course covers the Fourth Edition. It incorporates multiple sets of interacting standards that provide a framework for organizing the addiction treatment system and determining appropriate level-of-care recommendations.
In this presentation, Rawson Carlin will present vignette examples to guide discussions on making multidimensional assessments based on the new ASAM Criteria for service characteristic standards in adult levels of care. He will also present the content of new chapters in The ASAM Criteria and examine the updated continuum of care with decimal numbers to express further gradations of intensity and types of care provided.
Objectives:
- Describe the changes in The ASAM Criteria.
- Explain how to make multidimensional assessments for adults based on the new changes.
- Discuss how to apply the six-dimension criteria of ASAM.
- Explain how to make proper treatment level of service or care recommendations.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
