Overview:
The first thing that may come to mind when we think about veterans and military members is PTSD; However, PTSD is just one of the many mental health issues that generate in this population. This workshop will focus on Eating Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Depression/Anxiety, and Relationships/Divorce in the military.Â
This workshop will allow us to explore topics beyond PTSD among our military members and veterans in more detail and provide insight on how to become more aware of the battle our servicemen and women face and how being trained to not show weakness often leads to future, untreated and heightened problems.
Objectives:
- Identify the mental health disorders beyond PTSD in service members and veterans.
- Describe the development and pressures of military life places on service members and their families.
- Explain each of the presented disorders from the military perspective, recent trends, statistics, and prevalence.
- Identify the barriers service members and their families face.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.

Jennifer Burgin, LCSW, LCAS
Jennifer Burgin, LCSW, LCAS, CEDS, CIEC, is a highly trained and specialized clinician with a passion for helping individuals struggling with eating disorders and addiction. She holds multiple certifications and licensures in her field, including being a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. Jennifer's commitment to the field of social work began at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she completed honors work in eating disorder research as part of her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She then earned her Master's in Social Work degree and a graduate certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. With over a decade of experience in the field, Jennifer has worked in various treatment centers and developed her own specialized private practice in 2017. She also provides telehealth services and holds licenses in 10 states to ensure that individuals in rural areas have access to care.

eCare BHI, as the accredited and approved sponsor, maintains responsibility for all the programs and must abide by each board’s continuing education guidelines.

Social Workers — Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)
E Care Behavioral Health Institute, #1706, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. E Care Behavioral Health Institute maintains responsibility for this course.  ACE provider approval period: 06-03-2020 – 06-03-2026.Â
