Overview:
Learn to integrate key concepts of Polyvagal Theory and EMDR therapy into your clinical practice. These two leading therapeutic frameworks provide therapists with a robust framework for understanding the intricate dance between memory and autonomic processes.
In this presentation, Rebcca Kase, LCSW, RYT will help you explore the key concepts of Polyvagal Theory, including the role the vagus nerve has on health and wellness and how it promotes social bonds. Review the adaptive information processing model from EMDR therapy and gain insights into how memory storage can contribute to diagnoses and common clinical presentations. You will learn insightful case conceptualization strategies to implement with clients, along with several Polyvagal informed EMDR approaches for self-soothing and regulation.
Objectives:
Describe at least two core premises of Polyvagal Theory.
Explain how the autonomic nervous system influences social engagement, and the role of social engagement on the therapeutic process.
Review the adaptive information process model, and implications for symptoms and clinical presentations.
Explore the role of neural exercises as they relate to client readiness and preparation for processing traumatic memories.
