Trauma and PTSD can have a devastating impact on an individual’s physical and emotional health, making a recovery a challenging journey. However, with advances in evidence-based therapeutic techniques, it is possible to treat PTSD effectively and significantly enhance one’s quality of life in a matter of three to six months.
Dr. Weiner, with his extensive training in Veterans Administration hospitals, brings a comprehensive approach to treating trauma from a cognitive-behavioral standpoint. He emphasizes Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) as a model for understanding and overcoming the effects of trauma.
- Define two main underlying drivers of prolonged reactions and symptoms of traumatic stress, according to cognitive-behavioral theory.
- Identify at least two evidence-based assessment methods for traumatic stress and how determine which to use.
- Describe at least three interventions used within the Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) protocol.
