Overview:
Join Dr. Angela Wood and delves into the refreshed world of Motivational Interviewing (MI). Designed for dedicated mental health professionals like you, this workshop is your guide to embracing the latest edition of this evidence-based intervention approach, rekindling your connection with its spirit, and mastering its updated language and strategies.
Introduced in 1991, Motivational Interviewing has continued to evolve, and in 2023, Bill Miller and Stephen Rollnick unveiled the fourth edition of their seminal work: “Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change and Grow.” This workshop serves as your bridge to this new edition, known as MI4, where you’ll discover a more concise and finely-tuned approach that aligns with the current therapeutic landscape.
Step into the world of MI4 as Angela Wood guides you through a comprehensive journey. Explore key concepts and strategies associated with each of the four tasks: engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning. These strategies are not just theoretical; they’re rooted in the latest research, offering you an updated toolkit to enhance your practice.
Objectives:
- Examine your beliefs about helping people change within the guiding spirit of motivational interviewing, fourth edition.
- Describe the limitations and precautions associated with motivational interviewing.
- Recognize key strategies when implementing each of the four tasks of motivational interviewing (engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning) based on the latest clinical research.
Course materials are only available to enrolled students.
